It is one of the greatest states of the planet (the third for extension) with a surface of over 9.500.000 kmqs (almost 32 times vast than Italy) and the more populated of the world with over a million and two hundred million people (around 1/5 of the world population alive in China).
It is an extremely various nation, also for its extension, and very beautiful, to which an ancient charm must be added and partly mysterious, in fact the territory and its aspects have been to a large extent unknown to the western world up to few years ago.
The opening to the tourism is relatively a recent fact and the industrial development is of the actual time, in a nation that up to a year ago it was almost entirely agricultural and the population was rural in maximum part (2/3 of the inhabitants live in the country).
China is quickly changing and mysterious city as Peking and Shanghai is becoming metropolis of international prestige with consumistic characters unthinkable in the recent era of Mao Tze Tung.
But China is great and a lot of zones of the nation are entire, a little altered by sporadic tourist contacts and not yet sweeped away by the consumistic western civilization.
