It's a great oil producer and natural gas, especially in the area of the Caspian Sea.
A quarter of the population lives in the capital Baku, sets on the peninsula of Apseron on the Caspian Sea, a very old city; nowadays is in evolution thanks to great oilfield ubicated in front of it, with its sparkling skyscrapers and wonderful promenade.
It also belongs to the nation the territory of Nahicevan, sets among Armenia and Iran.
