It is maybe the poor and isolated state of the ex Soviet Republics of the Central Asia, it is torn with the guerrilla of the Islamic opposition since the independence (1991).
It is a mountainous country, that reaches the 7495 metres msl with the Ismoil Somoni Peak (ex Peak of the Communism).
The economy is poor, activities are almost exclusively agricultural even if the subsoil is rich of coal, petroleum and natural gas.
