USA are the nation most powerful of the present world; poorly inhabited (30 inhab/ Kmq), but with a lot of population (beyond 280 millions of people), rich, technologically advanced, industrialist, agricultural, economically unbeatable, militarily very strong. Its economic and military superpower turned it into a kind of policeman of the world, ready to intervene wherever in name of the democracy, to protect its great economic business. Despite the foreign questionable policy, it is undoubted that USA are synonym of democracy and freedom; it is a nation where are offered equal (or almost) chance to black and white, to Catholics and protestants, to men and women. In fact the population is constituted by a crucible of races and religions, of European immigrants and African ex slaves, by Cubans and Mexicans. The territory, very wide, extends from east to west, from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific and from North to South, from the big lakes to the Canadian border up to Gulf of Mexico and to the Caribbean beaches of the Florida; further on to the Alaska, large appendix in the extreme North of the American continent and to the Islands Hawaiis, by now in Polynesia. The towns and the inhabited centers are modern or ultramodern (here old city centres go back maximum to 1800); landscapes are everywhere magnificent and recall often spectacular backgrounds, as the Great Canyon of Colorado, the Monument Valley, the Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, the big lakes, the immense rivers, the parks of the rocky mountains, sanctuary of the nature.
Politically it is formed by the federation of 50 states; afterwards there are the names of the federal states and of the respective capitals:
