It is established from a big island of the southern Asia in front of the South coasts of India, flat in North area and mountainous in the center - South area, up to reach the maximum 2524 msl. Unfortunately in the last few years Tamil guerrillas started long and bloody struggles with the regular army, in the attempt to obtain the independence of the northern part of the island to Tamil majority and to hindu religion, while most of the population (beyond the 74%) is Ceylonese of Buddhist religion. The island is beautiful, even if in certain zones it is strongly inhabited and the hot climate, in certain months is very damp. It reaches the maximum interest and peaks of big beauty in the holy town of Kandy; in the archaeological fascinating centers of Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Mihintale and Sigiriya and in the golden temple of Dambulla.
The tea plantations in the Nuwara Eliya area are very beautiful. The island is surrounded by Indian Ocean and is bordered by amazing sandy beaches.
