The nation is constituted by a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean in the archipelago of the Caroline Islands in Micronesia. Greater islands are seven, which are bordered from other more less islands, for a total surface of 488 Kmq (that is little more than the double of the Elba Island), lived from just 19.000 inhabitants. It is independent from 1994; it is a Republic with the president elected to direct suffrage, but there are not political parties. The tourism is well developed, thanks to the splendid sea, to the volcanic and wild nature of the islands and to the fantastic ocean bottoms.
