This ex Portuguese colony, that overlooks the Indian ocean with thousand of kilometers of coasts often very beautiful, it is an a little inhabited state (density 20 abs / Kmq) and with regime for many years Marxist-Leninist, that lately it is opening to democratic reforms and the tourism. The country is poor, also because of long and bloody civil wars. It produce sugar reed, cotton and coconut palm; the subsoil furnishes good resources (gas, coal and iron).
Politic and economic situation of the Country starded to improve from the end of civil war (1992), also if is still possible to touch poverty and decay, heritage of comunist regime and civil war.
The beauty of Indian Ocean coast allowed a moderate turistic development with the opening of new infrastructures.
Ilha de Mozambico, in the north of the Country, is a fascinating center, dominated by portuguese architectures, while Bazaruto Islands, in front of Vilanculos, are wonderful seaside location.
