It is the smallest of the ex federate republics of the Urss, in fact it is a little greater than the Piemonte and Liguria put together; it occupies a close belt of territory between Ukraine and Romania, along the courses of the River Prut and Dnestr.
It is a poor nation, primarily agricultural (great productions of tobacco and wine grape), with strong ethnic contrasts because of the cohabitation on the territory of different nationality (Moldavians, Rumanians, Russians, Ukranians and Christian Turks).
However in the last year we can see a strong national resurgence with an improving of economic and social conditions.
Chisinau is a nice and very green place with good cultural activities.
