It is the most southern of the 3 Baltic states, softly constituted from great lowlands and from undulated hills, it is studded of numerous lakes, often with splendid woody shores. The capital is Vilnius a beautiful and very pleasant city; the ancient medieval (around 1300) capital of Trakai, on the edges and on an islet of a lake, it is a fascinating and extremely calm place. Lithuania is rich of amber, a resin fossil formed around 50 million years ago (Eocene), with which jewels of good invoice are forged.
