In spite of the name, that evokes liberty and democracy, on whose ideal it has been founded in 1847 for the liberalization and the re-introduction in Africa of the African-American slaves, the political situation of Liberia is very critical with a long and bloody civil war that has been tearing to pieces it for years. The 2005 presidential elections, developed in a regime of regularity (at least it is hoped), they could bring the country on the road of the peace and the democracy.
