It is the central state of the three Baltic republics, among Estonia to north and Lithuania to south.The territory, rich of lakes, is level or pleasantly undulated, enriched from the splendid capital: Riga. This last, the greatest city of the Baltic (almost 800.000 inhabitants) region, is an ancient hanseatic center on the Occidental Dvina, very alive and pleasant city, rich of magnificent monumental buildings. In the southern part of Latvia, near the Lithuanian border, the splendid Rundales Pils rises, Winter Palace, masterpiece of the Baroque Latvian.
