Its territory, rich of oil, narrow among Saudi Arabia and Iraq, to which it limits the way out on the Persian Gulf, hands wealth to the state and political and military risks, being vindicated from Iraq, that has invaded it in 1990. The military coalition of the U.N. has reestablished the sovereignty of the emir (26th February 1991). The oil is extracted by the over 700 wells in the desert and on the sea. In the Persian Gulf a lot of islands (belonging to Kuwait) emerge from the sea, for a total surface of around 900 Kmqs.
