It is a very vast (over 4 times greater than Italy) state, but with a density of only 6 inhabs / kmq. It's constituted by a northern region steppica and desert, with the tallest part of the Tibesti and with beautiful Saharian landscapes and from a damp tropical southern region with a long season of the rains.
It doesn't have way out on the sea, but it included big part of the Lake Ciad.
The political situation is difficult and after repeated dictatorships a presidential democratic regime has been established, that however it has not defeated the opposition of many armed groups.
Besides many zones in the north, in the gorgeous landascape of Tibesti, are mined and inaccesible.
In the subsoil have been found fair oil resources, that could represent a future for the nation.
Recently (2006), in the south-east of the country, is being reopened Zakouma National Park, wealthy of wild animals and big incontaminated landscapes.
